US storm forces flight cancellations at Sangster International Airport
ST JAMES, Jamaica — Inclement weather across the southern United States has resulted in the cancellation of several flights to and from Jamaica operating through the Sangster International Airport (MBJ) in Montego Bay, St James.
Authorities at MBJ say one outgoing and two incoming flights have been affected so far.
Delta Airlines flight DL 1928 departing from Montego Bay to Atlanta, as well as American Airlines flights AA1120 and AA2620, both arriving from Charlotte, have all been cancelled.
Five people are reported dead and over 3000 flights have been cancelled across the United States as an extreme winter storm pounds the southern parts of the country, AFP reports.
MBJ passengers are urged to contact their airlines for updates on flight departures before going to the airport and for rebooking.
Authorities say updates on flight operations at the Sangster International Airport will be posted on their website and social media platforms.
