KC, STATHS win ISSA all-island junior titles
KINGSTON, Jamaica— Corporate Area winners Kingston College and St Andrew Technical High School (STATHS) swept the ISSA all-island junior football titles after beating rural champions Glenmuir High and Manning’s School in the play-offs held at Glenmuir High on Tuesday.
Kingston College beat Glenmuir High 3-0 in the Burger King Under-14 final before STATHS routed Manning’s School 7-0 in the Mighty Malt Under-16 final.
Javaun Buckridge scored a hat-trick to lead Kingston College. He found the goal in the 28th and 45th minutes and a minute into added time.
In the Under-16 game, two players Shankeno Grant and Christiana Brown, scored doubles for STATHS as they thrashed the two-time rural champions.
STATHS scored three goals in quick succession mid-way the first half to knock Manning’s School back on their heels.
D’Mari Gouldbourne opened the scoring in the 25th minute before Grant got his first in the 29th minute and Kirk King scored a third in the 30th minute.
Grant completed his brace in the 52nd minute while Tarance Hall scored a fifth in the 73rd minute before Brown completed the scoring in the 75th minute and another in time added.
These games followed the all-star games played at the National Stadium on Saturday, where the All-Manning Cup teams swept both games- the all-scholastic game 5-4 on penalties after playing out a 1-1 draw in regulation and 4-2 in the feature game.
