Three St Mary communities under curfew
ST MARY, Jamaica — Three communities in St Mary are currently under curfew due to what the St Mary police have described as an increase in gang activities, arson, shootings and potential reprisals which have caused tension in some areas of the parish.
The communities which are under curfew are Enfield in Annotto Bay, Albion Mountain and Free Hill, both in Port Maria. The curfew which started on Wednesday, January 15 will continue until Friday, January 17. It will start from 6:00 pm each evening until 6:00 am the following day.
According to Acting Superintendent of Police Anthony Wallace, the curfews have so far resulted in persons of interest being taken into custody.
“We have some players in custody and some on the run and investigations continue as we aim to bring other perpetrators to justice,” Wallace told Observer Online.
The boundaries of the curfew are:
Enfield:
North: Along a section of the Iter Boreale main road near the National Water Commission (NWC) pump site extending east to the Dry River bridge;
East: Grove the Dry River Bridge extending south to a section of the Enfield community known as Forty One;
South: From Forty One west along an imaginary line; and
West: From the end of the imaginary line at Forty One north to the starting point near the National Water Commission (NWC) pump.
Albion Mountain:
North: Along a section of Top Mountain in the vicinity of the Albion Mountain Square. An imaginary line runs approximately 1,675 metres east to a section of the Trinity Land main road;
East: Along a section of the Trinity Land main road. An imaginary line runs approximately 1,517 metres south to a Y-junction intersection along a section of the Cox Street main road;
South: Along Cox Street main road at the Y-junction intersection, veering left to Roslyn Road and right to Trinity Land main road. An imaginary line runs approximately 1,897 meters west to a section of Roslyn Road; and
West: Along a section of Roslyn Road. An imaginary line runs approximately 1,451 metres north to a section of Top Mountain in the vicinity of the Albion Mountain Square.
Free Hill:
North: Along a section of Free Hill east to a section of Trinity Land;
East: Along Trinity Land, south to the section of Cox Street main road;
South: Along Cox Street main road west to a section of Roslyn Road; and
West: Along Roslyn Road north to a section of Free Hill.
