Sixteen million rays of sunshine
Best Dressed Chicken provides sponsorship for Netball World Cup campaign
Netball Jamaica (NJ) and Best Dressed Chicken have agreed a partnership worth $16 million over three years.
NJ President Tricia Robinson calls the partnership a game-changer for the sport, praising Best Dressed Chicken for what she says is its unwavering commitment to Jamaica’s young netballers.
“It is with immense gratitude and excitement that we welcome Best Dressed Chicken back as a valued sponsor and partner of NJ and the Sunshine Girls,” she said. “Best Dressed Chicken’s support is not just about sponsoring a team — it’s about investing in the dreams and aspirations of our talented young ladies.”
The $16 million deal was announced at a press conference on Thursday. The partnership aims to provide the support and resources that will equip the team as they continue on their journey to represent Jamaica at the next Netball World Cup.
“Best Dressed Chicken’s sponsorship is crucial to the team’s success, particularly as they prepare to compete in the 2027 Netball World Cup,” Robinson said. “This unwavering support enables our athletes to train, compete, and prepare at the highest level, ensuring that they are ready to represent Jamaica with pride and distinction on the world stage.”
The partnership will also support the Margaret Beckford Series against South Africa. The three-test series gets under way on Saturday at the National Indoor Sports Centre. The remaining matches are scheduled for Wednesday and the following Saturday at the same venue.
“We are particularly thrilled to acknowledge Best Dressed Chicken’s sponsorship of our Margaret Beckford Series against South Africa,” Robinson said. “This high-profile event will provide a platform for the Sunshine Girls to test their skills against top-notch international competition, while also showcasing the best of Jamaican netball to a global audience.”
Robinson praised Best Dressed Chicken for what she says is its commitment to community and nation-building.
“Best Dressed Chicken has always been a champion of community and nation-building,” she said. “Your partnership reflects a deep commitment to the robust sport and the empowerment of our athletes. Through your generosity, you are not only providing financial resources, but also inspiring a nation and fuelling the passion of young netballers who look up to the Sunshine Girls as their role models.”
Best Dressed Chicken Regional Marketing Manager Avadaugn Sinclair says the sponsorship is more than just support.
“Picture a young girl in Jamaica, netball in hand, holding a dream to rise high and wear the black, green, and gold with pride,” she said. “Today, Best Dressed Chicken is proud to invest in that.
“Our Sunshine Girls have made us proud for over 50 years. From hosting the World Cup right here in Jamaica, to earning a hard-fought bronze medal, they continue to shine.”
Sinclair praised the Sunshine Girls for what she says is their dedication and passion.
“Our Sunshine Girls are warriors, showcasing unmatched passion and skills,” she said. “At Best Dressed Chicken, we believe in empowering women. So to our Sunshine Girls, this is your time. We’re with you every step of the way and to every young girl watching, keep dreaming, keep practising, your moment is coming.
“In Jamaica, netball is more than a sport. It’s a large part of your life. Every young girl is playing netball, and every young girl dreams of being Sunshine Girls. So, thank you, and let’s make history together in 2027.”
