Feuding neighbours referred to restorative justice
KINGSTON, Jamaica — A 69-year-old man accused of assaulting his neighbour was referred to restorative justice when he appeared before the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Tuesday.
Martel Townsend is charged with assault occasioning bodily harm stemming from allegations that he struck the complainant on the back of her head.
The prosecution revealed that the two were once friends, but their relationship deteriorated after the COVID-19 pandemic. The complainant stated that Townsend “does not respect her boundaries” and accused him of spraying her with gasoline during another incident.
Townsend was also previously reported to the police for trespassing.
The matter was referred to restorative justice.
Townsend is scheduled to return to court on April 9, 2025.
