Top cop says Spanish Town safe following protest, names seven persons of interest
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica— The St Catherine North police are reassuring the public that normalcy has returned to Spanish Town following what they say was a protest conducted in the old capital on Wednesday.
Commanding Officer for the division, Superintendent Hopton Nicholson, in a statement, assured the public that the police, supported by members of the Jamaica Defence Force, will continue to maintain a presence in the area.
Meanwhile, Superintendent Nicholson is urging members of the public to cooperate with members of the security forces.
He went on to name several persons of interest who are being sought after an incident in Ellerslie Pen which left several police vehicles damaged and roadways being briefly blocked by residents.
Those being sought are:
- Roniel Hope, otherwise called ‘Ron’;
- Tashwayne Balford
- Jevaughn White, otherwise called ‘Bali’;
- Kevaughn White, otherwise called ‘Twin’;
- Shamar Domr, otherwise called ‘Boysie’
- a man known only as ‘Ranger’ and
- a man known only as ‘Prezi’.
Police are asking these men to report to detectives at the Spanish Town Criminal Investigations Branch immediately.
