Molynes edge Humble Lion to spoil Alex Thomas’ debut as coach
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Molynes United avenged their first round loss to Humble Lion on Monday, winning their second round game 2-1 a Drewsland mini stadium and moving two places up to ninth on the points tables.
The result spoiled Alex Thomas’ debut as Humble Lion coach as the Clarendon-based club remained rock bottom in the tables on 14 points.
An 88th minute goal from Rushawn Livingston broke the tie as Molynes ended a three-game run without a win.
An own goal in the 34th minute, a defender turning the ball past his own goalkeeper from a corner, gave Molynes the lead, but Humble Lion got back on level terms in the 78th minute when substitute Dr James Thomas scored from a right sided cross.
Back-to-back finalists Mt Pleasant FA, who set a JPL record 11th straight win on Sunday after they edged Tivoli Gardens, lead the tables with 49 points, followed by Montego Bay United- 41, Arnett Gardens-39 and Portmore United-34. Defending champions Cavalier and Waterhouse are tied on 33 points in the play-off positions.
