Reggae Youths regain lead in Sandals Major League
ST JAMES, Jamaica — Former two-time champions Reggae Youths snapped a two game winless run to regain the lead in Zone A of the St James Football Association/Sandals Resorts International Major League after beating Bogue FC 1-0 at the UDC Field on Saturday.
Sachin Wilmott scored his first goal of the season in the 27th minute for Reggae Youths who improved to 11 points, one point ahead of Wadada United FC with Lilliput Rovers in third place on eight points.
Wadada United moved into second place ahead of Lilliput Rovers after scoring an ‘upset’ 1-0 over the previously unbeaten team at Spot Valley High on Sunday.
Anthony Marks’ 72nd minute goal carried Wadada United to their third win of the season.
Flankers FC moved up within a point of leaders Green Pond SC in Zone B after beating Heights FC 1-0 on Sunday, handing them their first loss of the season.
Tevin Fuller scored in the sixth minute for Flanker FC to win their third game and improve to 12 points, one less than Green Pond SC who were held 0-0 by Montego Bay Boys Club on Friday.
Cambridge United, shook off a three-game winless skid, including losses to Montego Bay Boys Club and Green Pond SC, to score a come-from-behind win over winless Norwood Strikers.
Mario Gayle handed Norwood an early lead when he scored in the sixth minute but Narval Lawrence equalised for Cambridge United in the 77th minute and Cambridge rallied late with another goal in a three-minute span to turn around the advantage.
