Skip Marley continues trajectory on Billboard
Skip Marley continues to make inroads on the Billboard Rhythmic Top 40 Airplay chart with his latest single Close.
The song, which samples Maxi Priest’s 1990 #1 Billboard Hot 100 hit Close to You, has moved up from #19 to #17 in its 12th week on the chart.
Usually reliable sources have indicated that two different remixes of Close are expected to be released shortly.
Still on the Billboard Rhythmic Top 40 airplay chart, Akon’s reworking of gospel singer Jermaine Edwards’ It’s a Beautiful Day, retitled Akon’s Beautiful Day, slips from #5 to #7. Meanwhile, it debuts at #18 on Billboard’s Bubbling Under Hot 100 tally.
In other Billboard news, Find Me Here (Blessings Find Me) by Trinidadian gospel singer Sherwin Gardner backtracks from #11 to #14 on the Hot Gospel Songs chart, while Awuke by Davido and YG Marley flips from #19 to #21 on the US Afrobeats Songs chart.
Onto the Billboard Reggae Albums chart, Bob Marley and the Wailers post three entries. At #1 for the 264th non-consecutive week is Legend, while Exodus improves from #9 to #8, and Rastaman Vibration creeps up from #10 to #9.
Best of Shaggy: The Boombastic Collection by Shaggy remains at #2, Dutty Rock by Sean Paul is firm at #3, while World on Fire by Stick Figure dips to #4.
Wisdom and Set in Stone by Stick Figure are #7 and #7, while Welcome to Jamrock by Damian “Jr Gong” Marley revisists at #10.
Moving now to regional charts, Love Doctor by former Digicel Rising Stars winner Shuga, takes over the #1 spot on both the New York and South Florida Reggae charts.
Meanwhile, Joanna Marie’s It’s My House debuts at #24 on the South Florida Reggae chart, while Truly by Twiggi is new at #22. Alive (Year 2025) by Mr Vegas rises from #20 to #17 and Peaceful Woman by Pam Hall steps up from #7 to #5.
Over on the New York Reggae chart, Match by Jah9 creeps up from #11 to #10, It’s Showtime by Tarrus Riley improves from #16 to #12 and Old Gyalis by Nigy Boy bolts from #22 to #16.
Reggae Music Still Deh Ya by Legato continues to hold down the #1 spot on the Rebel Vibez Top Ten Canadian Reggae chart.
Winning by Omega Mighty is #4, Put it On by former JUNO nominee Tasha T is #8, Beautiful by Auresia is #9, and Life is the Thing by The Human Rights enters at #10.
