Ackera Nugent runs world leading 7.75 seconds in 60m hurdles
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Ackera Nugent ran a world leading and meet record 7.75 seconds to win the women’s 60m hurdles at the Hauts-De-France, Pas-De-Calais meeting at Arena Stade Couvert, Liévin, France on Thursday.
Nugent, the Olympic Games and World Championships finalist in the 100m hurdles, improved on her previous season’s best 7.92 seconds that she ran at the New Balance meeting in Boston on February 2.
Nugent replaced American Masai Russell as the world leader after Russell had run 7.76 seconds in New York on Saturday, February 8.
After running 7.82 seconds earlier in the heats, Nugent beat American Grace Stark- 7.82 seconds and France’s Laeticia Baptism- 7.85 seconds.
She also broke the meeting record 7.77 seconds set in 1997 by another Jamaican, Michelle Freeman.
