Heart of a champion: Botswana’s Tebogo rescues motorists trapped in floodwaters
BOTSWANA — Botswana’s 200m Olympic champion, Letsile Tebogo, is being hailed as a hero after rescuing motorists trapped in floodwaters in his home country on Wednesday.
In several videos and photos circulating online, the renowned sprinter can be seen using a truck to tow partially submerged vehicles away from danger.
The incident unfolded amid severe flooding in the country caused by torrential rains.
According to a Botswana Youth report, the rescue took place near the BTV/Block 3 traffic lights.
The report said the heavy rains have led to widespread disruptions causing damage to both residential and infrastructural properties and rendering several bridges impassable.
