KC, Hydel win 4x400m to bring curtain down at Gibson/McCook
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Kingston College and Hydel High ended another successful staging of the Gibson/McCook Relays with wins in the high school boys and girls 4x400m relays, respectively, at the National Stadium on Saturday.
The boys’ race lived up to expectation with the top teams exchanging the lead several times. Edwin Allen High, who were second, and Calabar High, who did not finish the race, both led at times in the race.
However, Kingston College prevailed in three minutes 10.26 seconds, ahead of Edwin Allen High who were second in 3:11.02 and Jamaica College who finished third in 3:11.37.
Calabar High were well placed to make a challenge but their anchor leg runner Nickocey Bramwell appeared to get tangled up with other runners around him and fell.
Hydel High won the girls final in 3:36.11, beating defending champions Edwin Allen High who ran 3:38.46 for second and Vere Technical who were third in 3:41.19.
