SERHA dimisses ‘misinformation’ regarding accident victim
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The South East Regional Health Authority (SERHA) is rejecting what it describes as misinformation circulating on social media, especially TikTok, regarding a patient who was involved in a motor vehicle accident and admitted to the Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) recently.
SERHA says the patient was assessed in the accident and emergency department, and maintains that appropriate care was provided quickly.
“We take note of the allegations raised concerning patient care and hospital operations. The medical team at PMH is committed to transparency and open communication with the community. Additionally, the medical team at PMH met with the patient’s family and provided an update on the patient’s condition and addressed other concerns,” the hospital said.
The management at PMH is now encouraging use of the Family Care System, which it says facilitates direct communication between patients and their doctors.
It is also stressing that the public should rely on official SERHA communications for accurate and up-to-date information and to disregard any rumours or misleading claims.
