It only took a mere spark to ignite the flames of love between compliance analyst Tyler Ford and trader Jerome Wilson. Indeed, their whirlwind affair culminated with an exchange of heartfelt vows on January 31, 2025, at Hibiscus Lodge Hotel in Ocho Rios.
Tyler, who hails from Philadelphia, couldn’t have imagined that a trip to Jamaica in May 2023 would lead to finding her soul mate.
While on vacation at the Moon Palace Hotel in Ocho Rios with her mother and sister, she would meet Jerome; finding his easy charm hard to resist.
“He was just really sweet and charming and I just felt that it was his charm that won me over,” Tyler told
Tuesday Style Vows (TSV). Intrigued by her, Jerome asked her out the same day. From that moment on, they were inseparable.
“I was kind of nervous because I didn’t know him that well. Then we met up later and chatted a bit and we exchanged numbers and then we were talking every day.”
Within a month, they were dating exclusively. Although they were an ocean apart, their continuous messages and calls only made them stronger as a couple. Jerome would invite Tyler back to Jamaica in September 2023 where she got to spend time with him and his family. It was a visit that confirmed what Jerome already knew in his heart, that he had found his future wife.
“The attraction was immediate… I couldn’t resist but to go over to her and talk to her. By her second visit, I was sure she was the one. When you know, you know,” Jerome recalled. It was similar for Tyler who was drawn to the family-oriented Jerome.
“He is a family person, which I love because I have a big family. He is patient and I just noticed that he was husband material. At the time I had just broken up with somebody so I wasn’t really looking. So it was just a surprise. But I couldn’t ignore my feelings [for him],” Tyler said.
Tyler had expected a proposal at the end of 2024, but Jerome would surprise her months ahead of schedule, on May 28, during dinner with his family and friends at Bettino’s restaurant in Drax’s Hall, St Ann.
“We were just sitting there. He stepped outside with his friends… I too, walked out, and noticed that there was a heart drawn in the sand with flowers. I walked over to him, he took my hand and [we] stood in the middle of the heart and he proposed,” Tyler said.
In the parish where they found each other, they would have their dream wedding with family and friends present. The venue was elegantly decorated by Unforgettable Weddings Jamaica with floral arrangements provided by Shangri-La Flowers and Gifts.
For her special day Tyler chose a custom gown by Roneka Robinson Designs. She made her walk up the aisle escorted by her mum Myra Ford to Ed Sheeran’s Give Me Love. The officiant was Pastor Howard Francis. Less than two years after they first met, Tyler and Jerome would commit themselves to each other, sealing their vows to the cheers of their loved ones.
The reception continued at the same venue where guests enjoyed a sumptuous spread courtesy of Almond Tree Restaurant. Jerome and Tyler cut their two-tier fruitcake provided by Sheila’s Homemade Pastries before their first dance as a married couple to John Legend’s All of Me.
The toasts and festive atmosphere made the occasion truly memorable; however, Jerome was most thankful for the overwhelming support of their families, despite the showers that threatnened to mar the occasion.
The couple later honeymooned at Carib Condominiums in Ocho Rios.
