Derrimon honours women in trade and manufacturing at empowerment workshop
IN celebration of International Women’s Day 2025 Derrimon Trading Company Limited hosted a transformative empowerment workshop and motivational luncheon dedicated to uplifting and honouring some of their remarkable women who are breaking barriers in the distribution sector. The event, held at the company’s head office on Marcus Garvey Drive, gathered women from all corners of the organisation to recognise their invaluable contributions, share their powerful stories, and inspire one another to continue leading with strength, resilience, and purpose.
As an organisation committed to empowering women and advancing diversity and inclusion, Derrimon took this opportunity to shine a spotlight on the critical role women play in industries that have historically been male-dominated. The empowerment workshop focused on key pillars, including leadership development, self-empowerment, and fostering femininity. The session aimed to spark meaningful conversations and provide practical strategies for women to navigate being a woman in their personal and professional lives.
Leading the discussion was Telecia Lindo Johnson, leadership coach at Coaching The Core. She spoke about the power of self-empowerment, self-discovery, being present, and the crucial need for women to support and uplift one another.
“I was excited to be a part of this empowerment workshop not only because I’m a woman, but because I truly appreciate when companies not only celebrate their staff but also recognise the importance of observances like International Women’s Day. I’m happy to have led this session to help the women of Derrimon connect with their true selves – oftentimes women find themselves in the corporate cycle and lose touch with who they really are,” she said.
“We are incredibly proud to honour the women at Derrimon who are not only excelling in distribution, be it trading or manufacturing, but also shaping the future of these industries through their leadership and innovation,” said Monique Cotterell, group human resource director at Derrimon Trading Company Limited. “Our aim is to create environments where they feel supported, valued, and motivated to reach their fullest potential in their personal and professional endeavours.”
