Cavalier rebound from Champions Cup loss with JPL win over Dunbeholden
Fresh off their clash with Lionel Messi and Inter Miami, Cavalier FC returned to action in the Wray & Nephew Jamaica Premier League with a 1-0 win over Dunbeholden on Sunday at Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex.
The reigning champions made several changes to the team who lost 2-0 on Thursday in the Concacaf Champions Cup round of 16 second leg, including the omission of captain Richard King and Christopher Ainsworth who begin international duty on Monday.
However, it didn’t create much problems as Dwayne “Busy” Atkinson scored the winning goal in the 63rd minute.
The victory was Cavalier’s 12th of the JPL season as they move to 48 points. They remain fifth but close the gap on fourth place Portmore United to two points.
Dunbeholden, winless in their last four games, remain ninth on 32 points.
