Rusheen McDonald advances to 400m semi-finals at world indoors
Rusheen McDonald advanced to the semi-finals of the men’s 400m as the World Athletics Indoor Championships got underway at the Nanjing Cube in Nanjing, China, Thursday night, Jamaica time.
McDonald advanced as one of the fastest non-automatic qualifiers after running a season’s best 46.72 seconds for third in the first heat. He had to wait until the fifth and final heat to know his fate.
The semi-final will be run in the afternoon session (Friday morning Jamaica time) with the final set for the second day of the three-day championships.
American Christopher Bailey led the qualifying with 45.70 seconds followed by Brazil’s Matheus Lima who ran a South American Area Record 45.79 seconds with Canadian Christopher Morales-Williams third best with 24.85 seconds.
