World Indoors: Campbell and Prince advance to men’s 60m hurdles semis
Jamaicans Jerome Campbell and Demario Prince made safe progress to Saturday’s semi-finals of the men’s 60m hurdles on the second day of the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Nanjing, China.
In the first round on Friday evening (Jamaican time), both men booked automatic qualifying times for the semi-finals set to be contested at 6:50am Saturday with the final set for 8:05am.
Campbell, who was second in the NCAA Division 1 Indoor Championships last weekend, was second in his first round heat in 7.61 seconds, the same time credited to the winner Lorenzo Ndele Simonelli of Italy, with Brazil’s Rafael Pereira third in 7.65 seconds.
Prince, who had just missed qualifying for the NCAA final, was third in his first round heat in Nanjing, running 7.70 seconds behind China’s Weibo Qin- 7.64 seconds and Belgium’s Michael Obasuyi- 7.67 seconds.
