No medals for Jamaica on day 2 of world indoor champs
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jamaica failed to add to their lone bronze medal at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Nanjing despite having two men in the final of the 60m hurdles on Saturday, the second day of the competition.
Demario Prince finished sixth in the 60m hurdles final, running 7.63 seconds, one place ahead of Jerome Campbell who clocked 7.71 seconds. Olympic champion, Grant Holloway of the USA, won his third straight gold medal in the event, clocking 7.42 seconds, beating former Carifta Games champion Wilhem Belocian of France and China’s Junxi Liu.
Prince had won his semi-final in 7.60 seconds to get an automatic qualifying spot in the final while Campbell, who was third in his semi-final in 7.61 seconds, qualified on time.
Jodean Williams and Natasha Morrison both failed to advance to the final of the women’s 60m.
Morrison was fifth in her semi-final in 7.25 seconds while Williams was fourth in her race in 7.22 seconds.
