#Champs2025:Hydel High’s Natassia Burrell leads girls’ javelin qualifying
KINGSTON, Jamaica—Hydel High’s Natassia Burrell will hope to upgrade her bronze medal from last year to gold, after she led the Girls’ Javelin throw Open with 39.76m in Tuesday’s qualifying at the 115th staging of the ISSA/Grace/Kennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championship at the National Stadium.
Burrell, the winner at the Carifta Trials with a season’s best of 43.26m, was the only athlete to throw over the automatic qualifying mark of 36.00m.
Excelsior High’s Tamar Austin, who was fourth last year, also advanced with 31.23m, as well as Edwin Allen High’s Angel Robinson (30.09m) and COCAA Western Champs silver medalist Princess Dunn of Maggotty High- with 29.23m.
