#Champs2025: Gabriella Treasure faces stern test in girls’ Class 3 high jump
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Gabriella Treasure of St Catherine High will hope to upgrade her silver medal to gold in the girls’ Class Three high jump in Thursday’s finals at the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships at the National Stadium, but faces a stern test from two other finalists from last year.
Campion College’s Stefvanco Henry and Sackoya Palmer of St Mary High will have unfinished business after they had failed to medal last year, but have shown significant improvements and are medal favourites.
All three are among six jumpers to advance to Thursday’s final after clearing the automatic qualifying stand of 1.60m in Wednesday’s qualifying round.
Last year, Henry was third going into the finals but finished 10th, while Palmer was fifth overall.
On Tuesday, Henry, who had a season best 1.72m, entered the competition at 1.55m and needed two attempts to get the automatic standard and goes into the final as favourite for the gold.
Tshani Armstrong of St Catherine High, Kariecia Morrison of Wolmers’ Girls’ and Brianna Stewart of St Jago High also got over 1.60m.
