#Champs2025: JC’s Joseph Salmon seeks back-to-back discus gold
KINGSTON, Jamaica — First year Class One thrower Joseph Salmon of Jamaica College will be looking for back-to-back discus throw gold medals after he led the qualifying rounds on Wednesday’s second day of the 115th ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships at the National Stadium.
Salmon won the Class Two gold medal last year while representing Clarendon College and has dominated the event all year coming into the championships with a best of 59.90m.
On Wednesday, he threw 54.86m, just ahead of Munro College’s County of Cornwall Athletics Association (COCAA) Western Championships gold medallist Rajeem Street who had a personal best of 54.69m, with Kingston College’s Dylan Logan next with 54.26m.
Kingston College will have two men in the final as Daijon Budhai also advanced with 52.59m followed by Rajay Hemmings of St Catherine High with 51.35m and Delon Smith of Calabar with 51.22m.
