#Champs2025: Reynolds creates upset in girls’ Class 2 1500m final
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Alphansus Davis’ Alikay Reynolds made a winning start to her Class Two campaign at the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships after winning the 1500m gold medal on Wednesday’s second day at the National Stadium, running 4:41.29.
Reynolds, who won in Class Three last year, upset favourite Jovi Rose of Holmwood Technical who repeated her silver medal performance from last year, running 4:42.71 while Rihanna Morgan of Hydel High took the bronze medal with 4:43.81.
There was another upset in the Class One final where Taiefa Gowe of Hydel, who was fifth last year, ran 4:37.34 to beat last year’s silver medallist Cindy Rose of Holmwood Technical who ran 4:38.22 and Ashara Frater of Vere Technical who was third in 4:38.56.

Edwin Allen’s Denique Palmer, who led after the preliminaries, won the Class Three gold medal with 4:44.44, beating Sydney Pagon’s Alexia Palmer who ran 4:46.89 and Shameika Dennis of St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) took the bronze with 4:47.89.
