Dania Beckford launches ‘Being Broadtail Confidence Journal’ to empower women
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Confidence advocate and body-positivity champion Dania Beckford has launched the Being Broadtail Confidence Journal, a tool designed to inspire women to embrace self-worth and authenticity.
The launch event, held on Sunday, March 23 at Broken Plate Restaurant in Kingston, was a celebration of empowerment, featuring an atmosphere of affirmation, camaraderie and elegance.
The evening opened with a symbolic “Confidence Cocktail”, crafted with Grey Goose Essences and an interactive affirmation floral wall where guests penned their personal affirmations for 2025.
Beckford, dressed in a striking outfit from her Broadtail Designs line, took center stage following a moving performance of Andra Day’s Rise Up by Nadejah Deacon. She set the tone with a quote from National Hero Marcus Garvey: “Without confidence, you are twice defeated in the race of life. But with confidence, you have won even before you have started.”

Beckford shared that the journal is inspired by her personal journey, explaining, “People always ask me, ‘How did you become so confident?’ The truth is, my confidence has been tested and tried. But every test helped build my confidence muscle.” She emphasized that the journal mirrors her self-reflection practices—journaling, affirmations, and self-inquiry—and is designed for women who have ever questioned their worth.

Notable speakers included Chief of Defence Staff, Vice Admiral Antonette Wemyss Gorman; Kalando Wilmoth, chief executive officer (CEO) of Verb Communication; public speaking coach and author Krystal Tomlinson; and CPJ Brand Manager Reneka Fowler. Each speaker underscored the power of confidence in leadership and personal growth.

A particularly touching moment came when Beckford’s mother recited Edgar Guest’s poem It Couldn’t Be Done, a heartfelt tribute to the resilience that has shaped her daughter’s journey. The night ended with a celebratory champagne toast led by Beckford, reinforcing the event’s message of building unshakable confidence.
The Being Broadtail Confidence Journal is now available at Morgan’s Creek in Sovereign Centre, Liguanea, and online at Amazon. As Women’s History Month continues, Beckford’s journal aims to help women reclaim their narratives and step boldly into their power.
