#Champs2025: Clarendon’s Young eyes throws double in class 2 discus
KINGSTON, Jamaica— Clarendon College’s Jamelia Young will be seeking her second gold medal in two days when she lines up in the finals of the girls’ Class Two discus throw on Thursday’s third day of the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships at the National Stadium.
Young won the Class 2 shot put on Wednesday and was the only athlete to get the automatic qualifying distance of 43.00m after she threw 44.92m on her only attempt in the qualifying on Thursday morning.
Immaculate Conception’s Jada Francis, who was the bronze medallist in the discus throw, was second best with 41.95m, while Brandane Malcolm of Hydel High (41.80m) and Jamie-Lee Tulloch of Immaculate, who threw 40.38m, also advanced.
