#Champs2025: Upsets in boys’ 200m finals
KINGSTON, Jamaica — There were at least two upsets in the three boys’ 200m finals at the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships as Western Champs medallists Sanjay Seymoure of William Knibb Memorial and Usain Bernard of Petersfield High won the Class One and Two gold medals respectively.
Seymoure, the Western Champs winner, sped to 21.27 seconds (-2.6m/s) clocking to take the Class One crown ahead of Calabar High’s Junior Gallimore who ran 21.42 seconds with Markel Smith of Kingston College third with 21.54 seconds.
Bernard, who was second in Class Two at Western Champs, produced the biggest upset when he used a fast start to run away from the field and won in 21.82 seconds (-2.4m/s), leaving Holmwood Technical’s Jaydon Collins in second place with 21.99 seconds while Kingston College’s Jason Pitter was third with 22.01 seconds.

St Jago High scored high in the Class Three final with Rajaun Romelly winning with 22.57 seconds (-2.2m/s) ahead of teammate Jevaney Findlay who ran 23.03 seconds while Emmile Higgins of Kingston College was third with 23.31 seconds.
