Government to cover cost of CSEC fees for students
GEORGETOWN, Guyana (CMC) — President Irfaan Ali has announced that starting this year, the Government will cover the full cost for up to eight subjects for students in the private and public education system writing their Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) examinations.
The announcement was made by the president as he addressed a public meeting at the West Demerara Secondary School.
According to Ali, the decision forms part of his Government’s commitment to develop the education sector.
“These are the policies that we are embracing. This is the future that we are creating. We don’t need an event to invest in the people and their future. We are not a seasonal presence in your lives. Think about it and be fair,” said Ali.
He said the People’s Progressive Party Civic Government could be relied on to represent the interests of citizens, across sectors.
The president added that his Administration has been investing heavily on the education sector, with billions of dollars going towards new and improved facilities across the country.
