Gujurat, Santa take top spots in first quarter of tipsters’ competition
The drama unfolded, the stakes were high, and the competition was fierce. The first quarter of the 2025 Capital Betting and Wagering Limited/Jamaica Observer Tipsters’ Competition has come to a close, and the winners are Anthony Allen (Gujurat) and Garfield Robinson (Santa).
In a thrilling display of skill, strategy, and a dash of luck, the two tipsters emerged victorious, outmanoeuvring their rivals to claim the top spots. Gujurat was the winner in the Most Wins category, while Santa easily triumphed in the Monetary category. The tipsters were rewarded with prize money of $20,000 each.
In the Most Wins category, Gujurat emerged victorious with 63 winners, narrowly beating Ruddy Allen (Kool Kat) and Santa, who each secured 62 wins. Bernadette Bishope (Miss Cookie) followed closely with 61 winners, and Donald Bahadur (Sir Donald) rounded out the top five with 60 winners. The other tipsters were Jason Duncan (Jahson – 59 winners), Sherdon Cowan (The General – 57 winners), Kingsley Gentles (The Genius – 51 winners), and Robert Bailey (Bailey – 48 winners).
The battle for the top spot was intense, with Gujurat, Kool Kat, Miss Cookie, and Santa neck and neck for most of the quarter. However, Gujurat’s excellent choice of selections ultimately secured his victory by just one winner. His winning margin was razor-thin, and it will be interesting to see how the competition unfolds in the next quarter.
In the Monetary category, Santa excelled, finishing with $22,000. Miss Cookie took second place with $17,285, followed by Gujurat with $16,696 and Sir Donald with $16,236. Jahson was next with $13,992, and The Genius with $13,000.
The Monetary category was closely contested, with several tipsters making significant gains throughout the quarter. However, Santa’s strong performance and savvy betting decisions ultimately earned him the top spot.
The General had a disappointing end to the quarter, despite leading the Monetary category for most of the period. The General made some costly betting decisions, which ultimately dropped him to $10,462. He had been well-positioned to take the quarter with over $29,000 but fell short.
The General’s experience serves as a reminder that even the smallest mistakes can have significant consequences in the world of sports betting. His decision to make large bets late in the quarter backfired, and he was unable to recover from the losses.
As the competition continues, it will be interesting to see how the tipsters go about the second quarter which runs from April to June. Will Gujurat and Santa be able to maintain their momentum, or will other tipsters emerge to challenge them? The answer will have to wait until the next quarter, but one thing is certain: the competition is going to be fierce.
