Tigeramedat gallops to second win of season
TIGERAMEDAT, a five-year-old American-bred bay horse, proved his class on Saturday, April 12, 2025 by securing his second win from five starts this season. Trained by Anthony “Baba” Nunes and ridden by Shane Ellis, Tigeramedat dominated the Restricted Allowance II race over 7½ furlongs (1,500m).
The race got underway with Lion Charmer (Raddesh Roman) and Golden Syrup (Omar Walker) taking the early lead, while Tigeramedat settled into third position. As they hit the backstretch Golden Syrup took over the lead, but Ellis was content to bide his time on Tigeramedat. The strategy paid off as Ellis let loose the notch a bit and Tigeramedat surged forward to take second place heading into the half-mile turn.
As they approached the final stretch Tigeramedat took control of the race, pulling away from the field with ease. Despite a late challenge from Lion Charmer, Tigeramedat proved too strong, galloping out to an easy 1¼-length victory.
In the end Tigeramedat emerged victorious, with Lion Charmer finishing second and Uncaptured Empress (Shane Richardson) taking third. The final time for the race was 1:34.1 (24.2 x 48.0 x 1:13.4 x 1:27.1).
